Introduction

There are two basic ways to find and log landmarks:

Plan A

  1. Use Markeroni resources to find information about landmarks
  2. Go find them
  3. Come back here to log them

Plan B

  1. Trip over landmarks in the wild
  2. Look them up at Markeroni
  3. If they isn't there, request their addition
  4. Log them

There are three basic projects at Markeroni. Here is a brief summary of what they are all about.

Journals

Journals is the base project of Markeroni on which everything else builds. Here, you log your own visits to landmarks, or snarfs. In a way, it is a kind of travelog or travel blog.

As you log landmarks, you earn kudos--a neat way of "keeping score".

The Markeroni Challenge

This is our annual challenge to visit 25, 50 or 100 historical markers or landmarks over the course of 11 months (January to November inclusive). You must photograph yourself or a mascot with the landmark to prove you were there.

There is a $10 fee for taking part.

The Landmarks Visited Catalog

This is a formal catalog of almost all the landmarks visited by members. (We generally exclude private properties without markers or plaques.)

Community

Markeroni is an ever-growing community of people who love history and travel. We have a forum, as well as a blog. You can receive a daily digest of historical markers and landmarks logged by members, set up and visit profiles, and take part in contests. Come join us now!
